The MS in Publishing: Digital and Print Media is a 36-credit master's degree program. This 1.5-year degree program provides students with a practical foundation in book publishing and digital/magazine media. Students may apply for the Spring or Fall semesters. Through a combination of classroom learning taught by esteemed industry professionals and computer laboratory study of key digital programs and practices, the MS in Publishing helps students to master the skills required for success in today's publishing workplace. Classes are held in the evening to support students working or interning. Industry visits, networking events, and global opportunities ensure that students have access to every aspect of the world of publishing.

The NYU Summer Publishing Institute (SPI) is a renowned, four-week summer program developed specifically for recent college graduates and rising college seniors who are interested in careers in book publishing and digital/magazine media. SPI annually features more than 150 leading industry executives who serve as faculty members and guest speakers. Students attend lectures and workshops that explore key publishing issues; visit the top book, magazine, and digital publishing headquarters; and participate in a career fair and other job-related activities. SPI awards three graduate credits to those who successfully complete the program. These credits may be applied to the MS in Publishing program or to an advanced degree at another institution of higher education where the credits are deemed acceptable. Students may choose to apply to both programs. SPI graduates enter the MS in the Fall with three credits of advanced standing.
